Meet Our Owner – Annie Thurston!

Hey Ya’ll! Welcome to Skin Charm. I’m glad you’re here. First and foremost, I want to thank you. Thank you for following along in my journey and evolution as a nurse! Whether you’ve known me since the beginning or have found me through the growth of my practice Skin Charm, I truly appreciate you being here. My name is Annie, but my friends all call me Annabelle. I was very fortunate to grow up in a warm and loving home, and I can remember the great joy hosting friends + family would bring my family and I. I still love hosting today, and I could not think of a better concept to incorporate into my work-life craft.

I am an Arizona native, born and raised in Phoenix. I now live in the Phoenix (Arcadia) area with my husband, Todd Thurston, and our Rhodesian Ridgeback/German Shepherd rescue dog, Kam. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling, art, interior design, reformer pilates, hiking, HIIT training, wine-tasting, and attending on-going educational events + trainings located throughout the nation, and the world. Most recently, I attended an advanced, one-on-on training program in London, England with the world-renowned physician, Dr. Tapan Patal at the esteemed PHI Clinic and Academy 102 on Harley Street.

If you couldn’t tell — I love everything aesthetics! With more than 10 years working in the industry, I am passionate and excited about continuously growing and evolving in my profession to offer the very best in patient care, always. I graduated from Arizona State University (Go Sun Devils!) with my Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. I am board-certified in aesthetics (licensed skin care therapist), laser certified, microneedling certified, and I also obtained my CANS certification in Aesthetics nursing. I am one of the few hundred in the country to obtain this certification, which is the highest level a professional can obtain as an RN. I am also a member of the ISPAN organization, whose mission is promoting the education, competency, and professional development of the Plastic + Aesthetic Nurses.

I’ve always loved learning and growing my skill set which is why continuing education and hosting trainings are a few of my favorite things. So when Allergan, the makers of Botox, Juvéderm and Kybella, selected me to train other nurses on injection techniques, I was honored and thrilled. I am also thankful for the opportunity every few months to train the Mayo Clinic residents alongside my Medical Director Dr. Terry Maffi. Sharing my knowledge on all things injectables makes me one happy nurse.

I know medical procedures and injectables (especially when it comes to your face!) can sometimes be a scary and unnerving experience. I take facial aesthetics medicine very seriously, and I am honored to be your medical aesthetic provider of choice. It is truly my mission to make my patients look and feel like the best version of themselves, always. Since opening up my practice Skin Charm in 2019, I’ve been blessed to help thousands of patients with Preserving the Pretty.  #PreservingThePretty (the Skin Charm motto) is all about highlighting the unique and beautiful features that make you, you! For me, it’s not about wanting to change how you look, it’s about maintaining youthful and refreshed features, and letting your healthiest skin glow. 

That is why natural looking results are the expectation when you step into and leave our clinic.  We promise to always offer only the best, gold standard treatment options on our service menu.  Whether you come to see me or Skin Charm’s other nurse Erika Maruca, rest assured you are in great hands. Both of us are highly trained in the aesthetics industry and look forward to helping you meet your beauty goals.  The “Skin Charm Way” is to enhance your own, natural beauty with our motto in mind, #preservingthepretty.
